Community Service Project
Are you working on a Humbag bag for the veterans? Is the need for a
zipper making you dread sewing one up? Well, we have a solution:
Put together a 11.5 x 15.5 mini quilt: a top fabric, batting and
backing, layered and machine quilted in any simple manner. Give the
quilted fabric to Cyndy Ostrout or Pat Mercier. Please have your name
with it. We will put the zipper in and return it to you. Finish the bag.
Put 3 or 4 small personal care items in the bag. Turn it in - it's
Done!
The Komen Race for the Cure which supports Breast Cancer Research has
asked GHQG to help them make survivor quilts. I have agreed to organize
this project. I am looking for 9 inch finished nine patches in shades
of pink (squares cut to 3 1/2) These will be put together with snowballs
that will be signed at the race on June 3rd. I am also looking for 3 1/2
inch pink squares to construct the snowball blocks out of. Any help you
can give me would be greatly appreciated. If you don't have time to make
a nine patch maybe you could check your stash for pink material...
plain patterned or batik. It will all work.
Thanks for your help. Sally Cummings 763-4106
