The Next Meeting
Wednesday, March 16. Doors open at 6pm and the meeting starts at 7pm.
We will have a business meeting, nomination of officers, show and tell,
raffle, and we will be making quilts to be donated for our community project.
Our next regular meeting, March 16, will be "hands on" as we work on the
community project as our program. We are making quilts for Safe
Homes of Enfield, Inc. Everyone, please come prepared to help.
If you do not know how to do any of the steps, like tying a quilt,
we can teach you - it is quite easy.
The following ladies have agreed to bring their machine for stitching:
Mary Shaw
Maureen MacDonald

Ladies, I think there are 3 outlets in our room, so please plan on maybe 2 of
you to a table near an outlet, and bring an electrical strip if you have one.

Ladies, please find a table to use after the business part of
the meeting is over. We may get most of the quilts layered by
the meeting, so please also plan on tying. Thanks.

Cocoa Snowflakes Cookies
made by Beverly Morin for our Holiday potluck supper!!
1 cup flour 1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt 2 large eggs
5 tbsp butter 1 cup finely chopped nuts(optional)
6 tbsp cocoa powder powdered sugar for rolling cookies
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt, set aside.
In a small heavy saucepan, melt butter over low heat, add cocoa powder,
blend well with a fork or a small whisk until smooth. Remove pan from heat,
stir in sugar until combined (it will be dark brown at this point).
Transfer to a large mixing bowl, add vanilla, then the eggs one at a time,
stirring well with a wooden spoon or hand mixer after each addition.
Add flour mixture and nuts, mix well. Cover bowl with plastic wrap,
refrigerate until chilled (at least 2 hours - I usually refrigerate overnight).
The dough never gets really stiff, but it won't roll into nice balls if it is warm.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grab enough dough for a cookie sheet, leaving remaining
dough in refrigerator. Form dough into 3/4" balls, then roll in sifted powdered sugar.
(It is easier to roll the dough into balls if hands are coated with powdered sugar).
Place the sugar coated balls onto a greased cookie sheet, 2 " apart.
Bake cookies for 8 minutes, let cool a minute, then remove from pan.
Store in an airtight container to maintain the soft and chewy texture of these cookies.
If you like a crisper cookie, cook a minute longer, being careful not to burn the bottoms.
Yield: 40-60 cookies.
